"Precision QCD predictions for ep physics at the EIC (III): opportunities with a second IR
CFNS
In order to develop and promote precision theory for the EIC, a dedicated workshop series “Precision QCD predictions for ep physics at the EIC” was started at the Center for Frontiers in Nuclear Science in 2022, with a second edition in 2023.
Following the very successful first editions, we are now organizing the third workshop "Precision QCD predictions for ep physics at the EIC (III): opportunities with a second IR” at CFNS from September 23-27, 2024.
For this new workshop we plan to proceed via two avenues. One is to build on the past success and continue discussion of advanced theoretical calculations for the EIC in general in order to improve their accuracy. The other is to give the workshop a particular focus on the opportunities that would be offered by a second interaction region at the EIC, equipped with a second detector. Our workshop would collect the ideas and plans for such a second IR, and especially its potential impact on the physics of the EIC and its complementarity to the “base” EIC detector (ePIC) design.
